Anna Baranowski
Visual Artist & Filmmaker
Anna Baranowski, born in 1983 in Bytom (Poland), is a visual artist and filmmaker from Leipzig. In 2012, she received a diploma in media art with distinction from the Leipzig University of Visual Arts. After her studies, she received numerous artist residencies, scholarships, such as the working scholarship of the Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn in 2018, and participated in several exhibitions at home and abroad. Her observations of foreign but also familiar worlds are reflected in her works and reflect social phenomena of our time. Parallel to her artistic work, she works as a cinematographer and editor on documentaries for cinema and TV (e.g. ARTE, ZDF). After eight experimental short films, Namaste Himalaya is her debut as a director for a 90-minute documentary film.
